Capabilities
Surgical Dept deals with almost all cases and is well organized into following sub specialties:

a.General Surgery: There are 305 beds earmarked for surgical cases including 13 beds in the well equipped main ITC and 15 beds in surgical ITC. This department is divided further into 3 surgical teams.

b. Thoracic Surgery: Thoracic Surgery department of CMH Lahore is well equipped to deal with all cases pertinent to chest surgery. Thoracoscopy and all video assisted thoracic surgery including chest trauma and elective thoracic surgical procedures are performed in this department.

c. Urology: The Urology Department is headed by classified surgeon - Major Zahoor Iqbal Mirza supported by highly trained paramedical staff. The department has an independent ward and performs the following urological procedures

(a) TUR-P
(b) TUR-B T
(c) Cystolitholapaxy
(d) Endoscopic evaluation and treatment of urethral strictures
(e) URS
(f) Intracorporeal Iithortipsy for ureteric stones
(g) Open general and reconstructive urological surgery.

Orthopaedic Surgery

This is a well established department headed by Brig Sohail Hafeez Classified Orthopaedic Surgeon. There are 40 beds exclusively for this department. This department is recognized for training by CPSP and there are two classified surgeons undergoing orthopaedic training in this department.

HULS (Hand and Upper Limb Surgery Centre)

The commandant of HULS, Shahzada Mahmud UI Hassan Jafri is a classified hand and upper limb surgeon. This Centre deals with medical and surgical problems affecting Hand and Upper Limb, including hand upper limb injuries (soft tissues, bony and joints) arthritic hand and upper limb diseases, paralytic problems, tumors, arthoplasties and nerve injuries including brachial plexuses injuries.

This centre also performs sophisticated microsurgical procedures, involving re-implant and transplant procedures.

Department of Neurosurgery

The Department is It is headed by classified neurosurgeon, and has trained nurses and paramedical staff. CMH Lahore Neuro-Surgical Unit is the oldest neurosurgical unit in Pakistan Army. It was established in 1955. It has a thirty bedded well equipped unit with facilities of CT Scan, ventilator and microscopes. Rehabilitation department is an added advantage for the management of Neurosurgical patients at CMH Lahore. The Neurosurgical Department has a separate OPD complex with minor operation theatre in OPD for the minor procedures. All sorts of minor and major neurosurgical operations are performed at CMH Lahore. It is also a Neuro-Surgical referral centre.
